Dr András Végh, historian, archaeologist, museologist, and university professor, the head of the Department of Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University, the former director of the Castle Museum of the Budapest History Museum, the member of the editorial board of the Hungarian Atlas of Historic Towns series, died on 1 February 2024 after a long and serious illness.
Among the numerous publications of András Végh on the history of the Hungarian capital, the Atlas of Medieval Buda (Buda Part I to 1686), published in the series in 2015, occupies a prominent place.
The obituaries were written by Miklós Takács of Pázmány Péter Catholic University and by Péter Farbaky of the Budapest History Museum in Hungarian.
